-visited June 2018
-557 US Route 2, Randolph,
New Hampshire
-10-12miles round trip
-difficult
-bathroom at hut near .5
miles from summit
-nearby: Appalachia Falls,
Mount Adams
-notes:
-giant paved shoulder pull off on the side
of the highway, free
-beginning is fairly easy (along
waterfalls) then becomes more moderate, then becomes difficult after first 3
miles or so
-beginning has some rocks and roots but
minimal stepping and incline, then after first 3 miles it becomes a lot more
rocks, stepping and incline
-upper portion has a lot of built in
stairs
-trail is well marked but also easy to
follow
-trail begins as mostly shaded but as get
closer to the summit the trees open up and its more sun
-multiple ways to the summit, can go
directly or take side route that brings you to a hut for food, bathrooms, and
lodge
-if go to hut can then split off and hike
to the summit of Mount Adams as well
-hut has limited view that is obstructed
by tree and summits
-summit is a giant pile of rocks, 360
view, and a lot of stepping/climbing (same as Mount Adams)
-tree line ends at the hut
-very windy/cold at summit, even on a warm
day
-did not actually make the summit during
this excursion, made it to the hut
-has some bugs
-can
bring dogs
