Mount Greylock / William / Fitch - MA (Mountain)

-if just doing Greylock, parking is numerous - Rockwell Road, Notch Road, Greylock Road - Williamstown, Massachusetts
-if doing the combo hike starting with William - 1136 Hopper Road, Williamstown, Massachusetts
-visited August 2012, October 2015, October 2016
-length varies depending on parking choice and distance covered, if park at summit it is roadside, if do combo hike it is 9 miles
-Moderate to difficult side of Moderate, depending on which direction you walk
-bathrooms at Greylock summit if the restaurant is open (seasonal), other than that no restrooms
-nearby: Deerhill Falls, Moneybrook Falls, March Cataract Falls, Peck Falls, Mount William, Mount Fitch
-notes:
-much easier to go up William across Fitch and down Greylock than it is to go up Greylock, across Fitch and down William, if choosing to do the combo hike.
-the loop hike will allow access to at least three waterfalls
-Greylock summit is paved parking, but pay to park, all other parking is dirt lots and is free
-Hopper trail is very steep and has a lot of stepping, has continuous incline with almost no breaks. Would suggest going down this trail instead of up, but that is brutal on the legs. Going up Money Brook Trail, across Fitch and down Hopper is easiest trail, but is still Moderate in rating
-the view at the summit of William is very limited, where there is a tall pine tree right in the middle of the opening blocking half the view. Fitch has no view. Greylock has an amazing view, best seen at the top of the monument, or walking down Notch Road to the overlook.
-there is a war monument on the top of Greylock that offers a 360 view. Not optimal for pictures though, due to the reflection in the glass that makes up the look out windows. There is also a restaurant and gift shop at the summit
-during the summer, there are numerous butterflies at the summit of Greylock
-summit of Greylock is field-esque, great for picnic, although there are no tables
-just off the summit of Greylock there is an enclosed shelter shack, if you happen to find yourself stuck up there with less than optimal weather conditions
-by the end of October, the summits of all three mountains have snow on them
-if can catch the fall season correctly, the view of the changing leaves is beautiful from the lookout on Notch Road
    -dogs are allowed
