-Approx. 3500 Crawford Notch Road (Route 302), Whitefield, New Hampshire - park at the Crawford Notch Train Depot across from Saco Lake
-visited August 2013
-1.6 miles each way
-easy/easy side of moderate
-bathroom if depot is open
-nearby: Arethusa Falls, Ripley Falls, Mount Willey, Mount Field, Mount Tom, Mount Lafayette/Lincoln/Little Haystack/Falling Waters Falls, Basin Cascade
-notes:
-paved parking, free
-park at the depot, go to the backside of the building, cross the tracks (use caution they are active), and the trail begins here
-as far as walking it is easy. The ground is flat with minimal boulders or roots to step over. It is more moderate in some areas because of water barriers (rocks) that you have to step over, but also because the entire walk is an uphill climb that doesn't level off until you reach the summit. So the walking is easy, but the incline provides plenty of cardio
-summit is a giant slab of rock surrounded by trees on the backside
-opens to a nice 180 degree view of the valley
-bugs are minimal
