Mount Lafayette / Mount Lincoln / Little Haystack - NH (Mountains)

-Trailhead parking exit on Route 93, Lincoln, New Hampshire
-visited October 2014, December 2014, June 2016
-8.6 mile loop (base to little haystack 3.2, little haystack to lincoln .7, lincoln to lafayette .9, [haystack to lafayette 1.6], lafayette to hut 1.1, hut to base 2.9, [lafayette to base 4])
-difficult
-porta potty bathrooms at base, real-ish bathrooms at greenleaf hut on lafayette (open seasonally)
-nearby: Basin Cascade, Beaver Brook Cascade, Mount Garfield, Mount Galehead, Mount Liberty/Flume, Arethusa Falls, Mount Willey/Field/Tom, Mount Willard, Ripley Falls, Mount Cannon, Mount Moosilauke
-notes:
     -paved parking, free
-can rent a room and stay overnight at the Hut. Have to book in advance. Has porta potty toilets but running water to wash hands. No heat though so water is ice cold. Serves food.
-much easier to go up Little Haystack (Falling Waters Trail) and down Mount Lafayette (Old Bridal Bath). Ive done it both this way and the reverse and it is much nicer on the legs to go this way.
-going up haystack is a set of waterfalls. will have to cross the river 5-6 times, so use caution. This can be very tricky depending on the water level.
-entire trial is a ton! of stepping and constant incline/decline with no breaks. There are a lot of rocks, and even some stairs. Definitely a good leg workout.
-going up/down is all shaded tree cover, but going across the Ridge from Haystack to Lafayette is wide open with no protection, wear sunscreen!
-going up is all woods, but all of the summits/ridge is all just slabs and pieces of rock. Creates a nice wide open view.
-Ridgeline is very windy and is often cold so bring a warm sweatshirt even if the day is warm. There is nothing to protect you from the wind. Once in the tree line though, all wind completely dies
-Beautiful 360 degree view from all three peaks. Can see for miles on a clear day. Absolutely beautiful.
-trail turns to solid ice in the winter, and the wind and frigid temps of the summit are brutal.
     -allow 7-10 hours to complete
