-Approx 70 Reservation Road, Sunderland, Massachusetts
-visited June 2016, February 2018
-approx 1 miles from parking to falls, so 2 miles round trip
-easy to easy side of moderate (upper falls trail)
-no bathroom
-nearby: Mount Toby, Gunn Brook Falls, Slatestone Brook Falls, Chapel Falls
-notes:
-dirt parking lot, free
-one half of road is paved, other half of road by pond is all dirt, not bad but not great
-falls are maybe 1/4 mile off the main trail up to the summit of Mount Toby
-trails to falls is steep, has loose soil and brush, and a lot of stepping over roots and stones, has blue trail markers.
-trail zig zags to help with traction
-falls is very rain dependent, nothing but a trickle without it. As a trickle its not overly impressive, but in early spring it is beautiful
-falls maybe 25-30 foot drop
-has a cool rock tunnel/gorge near it that is pretty interesting
-main trail to get to spur trail is flat with minimal stepping, but is a constant incline. There is a small sign that marks the trail, on the left, to go to the falls
-some debris in the falls but it is minimal
-spur trail to falls, marked by a sign high up in a tree, actually splits in two. The upper trail is described above. The trail to the lower falls (doesn't go through rock tunnel) is very easy, has little to no stepping, has some grade to it but is minor. Has some roots and some loose stone. No trail marks but is easy to follow
-fully shaded by trees
-trail turns to ice in winter, can be very slick but is still hikeable
-minimal bugs
-some trees obscure the view, but can work around them. Only major obstacle are the boulders that make up part of the falls, can't see all of the pieces of the falls at once.
